Congratulations again on YOUR ACCEPTANCE TO AUA’s STUDY ABROAD PROGRAM!!!
SUBMIT YOUR DECISION FORM
Submit your Decision Form (download here), to let us know you plan to participate in our study abroad program. You have two weeks to submit your Decision Form after receiving your acceptance letter. If we do not receive your Decision Form, we will assume you are not planning to join AUA with the Study Abroad program.
DECLINE YOUR OFFER
Even if you do not plan to attend AUA, we still ask that you complete the Decision Form where you have the option to decline your offer.
REQUEST HOUSING SUPPORT (OPTIONAL)
AUA has Mashikian Student Residence Hall located in Dzoragyugh, a 25 minute walk from the University. The student residence offers single and double rooms with private bathrooms. Each room contains a heating and cooling unit, refrigerator, and private bathroom. Ramps, an elevator, and large bathrooms on the first floor ensure that students with disabilities can easily navigate the building. The facility is equipped with wireless internet access, laundry machines, and private and communal balconies. Designated spaces for professional activities and social gatherings provide a well-rounded experience, with a lounge area, kitchen, and study room on the ground floor. The preliminary monthly costs (subject to change) of a double room is 85,000 - 95,000AMD and 150,000 - 170,000AMD for a single room. The cost includes utility expenses.
If there is no space in AUA's Mashikian Student Residence Hall, we will assist you in your search for off campus housing. Note, however, the ultimate cost depends on your preference and usually does not include utilities and internet. Visit admissions.aua.am/housing or email us at [email protected] for more information.
REQUEST VISA SUPPORT (OPTIONAL)
AUA supports its students in securing visas to study at AUA. Most international students are exempt from the need to obtain a visa (see the list here) and will receive a stamp in their passport upon arrival which will allow multiple entries for 180 days. If your country of origin is on the above list, you may be able to obtain a visa at the Zvartnots International Airport in Yerevan upon arrival for a cost of 15,000 AMD. If your country of origin is not on this list, you must apply for a visa prior to traveling to Armenia, typically at a Consulate which will require a letter of invitation from AUA. If you are from a country that requires a letter of invitation, then make sure to email Anzhela Balasanyan our Coordinator or International Student Services at [email protected], in order to provide you with the necessary documentation or support.
REGISTER FOR COURSES
All of our courses are listed in our Academic Catalog’s Course Descriptions, which includes a short description of each class. Make sure to take note of all prerequisites. The Office of the Registrar publishes the schedule of courses for each term at registrar.aua.am/schedule. Should you need more information on any course(s), please email us.
Once the schedule is online, email [email protected] for your preferred courses along with two or three alternates for each (this means you are sending us a total of 12 - 15 courses). Please remember that the number of courses and credits that you should complete at AUA are contingent upon the requirements of the program under which you are coming to AUA. Therefore you need to make sure to work with your home university advisor prior to departure to ensure that all your selected courses (including alternates) are approved and will transfer back to your degree. Once we receive your selection, we will forward it to the relevant programs on campus and the Office of the Registrar to register you directly.
STAY TUNED FOR INFORMATION REGARDING YOUR PRE-DEPARTURE ORIENTATION
Approximately one month prior to your visit, the Study Abroad & International Student Services Office will schedule a one-on-one online orientation preparing you for your upcoming travels and studies in Armenia. During that call, we will discuss the academic calendar, course registration, what to pack, logistics of your arrival, health insurance, visa and housing, tuition and other payments, on and off-campus dining, student services, living in Armenia, and more. You will also be able to raise any questions or concerns you may have regarding your upcoming study abroad experience at AUA.
TAKE NOTE OF IMPORTANT DATES
The first most important date to remember is the due date of your Decision Form. It is due two weeks after receipt of your acceptance letter, along with the non-refundable deposit.
Once you submit your Decision Form, we will start working with you to support your preparations to visit Armenia. We recommend that you arrive at least a couple of days prior to the start of classes and leave a few days after the end of final exams (dates are listed in the Academic Calendar) . If you would like to arrive earlier or stay later, that is fine. However, you will be responsible for all arrangements outside of your study dates.
GET READY TO DISCOVER ARMENIA (OPTIONAL)
Part of the Study Abroad experience includes an optional Discover Armenia Educational Tour program that will fully immerse you into Armenia’s evolution from ancient times to the present. Once you submit your decision form confirming you have opted in for these tours, start researching Armenia! We will send you an International Student Handbook which includes sights you may want to visit. Please study it carefully and send us an email of what you are most interested in.
Our Study Abroad & International Student Services Office will then develop an itinerary that will include visits to museums, churches, fortresses, and much more. We also recommend you check out former student experiences here under the "Discover Armenia" section.
