The Bachelor of Science in Nursing is an undergraduate education that is available for nurses who have a diploma in nursing from a vocational level colleges and seek to advance into a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree. The program builds upon the courses taken in nursing colleges. The education duration at AUA is five semesters and two summer terms and covers 75 required credits.

The program prepares nurses to promote health and deliver nursing care to the diverse patient population across the lifespan and across the four spheres of care: 

1. Disease prevention and health promotion
2. Chronic disease
3. Regenerative or restorative, and
4. Palliative or supportive

AUA prepares specialists who are well-grounded and well-rounded individuals, able to think critically and creatively, learn on their own, understand different kinds of thinking, work in teams, and deal with people from different cultures and disciplines. The program provides rich and varied opportunities for practical experiences that focus on person-centered care (care of the individual, family, and important others).

Selection Process

AUA practices holistic admissions. We select students who have the skills and ability to succeed in their studies and for whom AUA is well suited to their educational and career goals. Once you submit your application, it is screened for technical eligibility.

As admission to AUA is competitive, the committee will consider your academic and personal information, including educational background, proof of English language proficiency, nursing experience, extracurricular and volunteer experience, essay, and an interview.

Application Requirements

To be considered for admission to the BSN, eligible nurses must meet the following criteria:

  1. Submit a proof of graduation and transcript from the nursing college
  2. Satisfy the English Language Proficiency Requirement typically via one of the following:
    1. TOEFL Internet Based Test (iBT) (Score of 79) o Academic IELTS (Score of 6.5)
    2.  Alternative internal English proficiency testing

    3. English Language Proficiency Test Waiver
  3. Submit a complete AUA Application for Admission to BSN program with all required supplements as outlined in the application instructions including a non-refundable application fee.
  4. Participate in an interview.

Submitting a complete application is an important part of the holistic admissions process. To confirm that your application is complete, make sure you meet the following requirements:

2. English Language Proficiency
Present valid and official results confirming English language proficiency typically through the  following options:

  • TOEFL iBT or TOEFL iBT Special Home Edition Tests (target score: 79)
  • IELTS Academic or IELTS Indicator Exams (target score: 6.5)
  • English Language Proficiency Test Waiver – Native and near-native speakers are eligible for a waiver. For more information, please read the English Language Proficiency waiver policy.
  • Alternative internal English proficiency testing: Successfully complete the series of the Open Education’s General English (taught in six levels) with a passing score.

Score Validity and Reporting
You must submit official score reports confirming English language proficiency either from the TOEFL iBT (including Special Home Test) or IELTS Academic (including Indicator) exams. For AUA application purposes, the TOEFL iBT/IELTS Academic scores are valid only if your test date was less than two years before the application submission date. You must ensure that official test scores are sent to AUA directly from the testing service, using AUA’s institution codes as noted below:

  • TOEFL iBT - 4151
  • IELTS Academic – 40 Baghramyan Ave, Yerevan

3. A scan of the photo and registration pages of your passport (or National ID for Armenian citizens)

4. A photo meeting the online application requirements

5. Proof of vocational-level education diploma or equivalent
At the time of application, you must hold a nursing or midwifery diploma (or equivalent) from, or be currently enrolled in your final year of studies, at an accredited or licensed institution of education providing a vocational nursing degree.

6. Non-refundable Application Fee

For Armenian Citizens* and Armenian Special Passport Holders - 25,000 AMD 
For International Citizens - 30,000 AMD 

* Citizens of the Republic of Armenia also include those citizens mentioned in Chapter 1, Article 6, Clause 3 of the Republic of Armenia  Law on Higher and Postgraduate Professional Education.

7. Updated résumé (maximum 2 pages) + an Employment  certificate

Tuition and Fees

Students in degree programs sign a contract with AUA upon enrollment which establishes tuition for the duration of the contract. All fees are paid in AMD.

At the time of registration, applicants are classified as:

» Citizens of the Republic of Armenia*
» Holders of Armenian Special Passports for Special Residency Status (commonly known as the 10-year visa ); or
» International Students

The annual tuition and fees for students enrolled in BSN program for the Fall 2022 cycle before financial aid is as follows:

*    Citizens of Armenia also include those citizens mentioned in Chapter I, Article 6,Clause 3 of the Republic of Armenia Law on Higher and Postgraduate Professional Education.
** AUA requires proof of health insurance for students who do not hold Armenian citizenship. You may purchase health insurance from any provider. Alternatively, AUA offers support in securing coverage through the University's provider for approximately 10,000 AMD per month.



Citizens of the Republic of Armenia and Armenian Special Passport Holders receive an automatic 2,000,000 AMD annual subsidy off the total cost of their tuition, reducing the cost of education from 3,700,000AMD to 1,700,000AMD. BSN is typically a Fall-Spring-Summer-Fall-Spring-Summer program. The cost of tuition for the entire program is:4,250,000 AMD for Citizens of Armenia and Armenian Special Passport Holders and 9,250,000 AMD for International Students.

For the inaugural class of 2024, citizens of Armenia and Armenian Special Passport Holders will receive an automatic subsidy of 95% of tuition.

International students are eligible for merit-based scholarships that may cover up to 50% of the total cost of tuition.
